Product Description

Denatured ethyl alcohol with added sodium salt. The added presence of the sodium causes the flame to be more visible, thus reducing the potential for accidental burns.

HAZARD ALERT: Dangerous fire risk; addition of denaturant makes the product poisonous—it cannot be made nonpoisonous.
Storage: Organic #2 in a dedicated flammables cabinet. If a flammables cabinet is not available, store in a Flinn Saf-Stor Can.

Shelf Life: Excellent if stored safely.
Soluble: Miscible with water and many organic solvents.
Color: Colorless
Odor: Alcohol 
Safety Purchase Suggestion: Do not buy large quantities or large package sizes of ethyl alcohol unless you have safe and fire-resistant storage facilities on your school premises.
Technical Note: Never allow the use of duplicator fluid for fueling alcohol burners. The products of combustion from duplicator fluids are extremely hazardous to your health and the health of your students.
Safer Alternative for Alcohol Burners: Consider acquiring portable gas burners that operate from small bottles of gas. We suggest these portable gas burners are safer than alcohol burners. Yes, such burners are expensive, but if you calculate the real cost over the life of the burners, it may easily be equal to alcohol burners. A hot plate or these suggested gas burners are safer than alcohol burners.
