Lumbricus terrestris, the common earthworm. These are large, extended specimens representative of the phylum Annelida-the segmented worms. Earthworms are placed in the class Oligochaeta-so named due to the presence of relatively few setae (bristles) per segment. Please note, medium earthworms are typically less mature and less likely to show full development of the clitellum.
