Doctors are trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of numerous diseases. Many diseases have common symptoms, which make it difficult to distinguish one from another. In addition, patients are sometimes afflicted with more than one ailment at a time. In this lab, students become real-world physicians. As the doctor, each student performs an initial patient screening to gather preliminary data of the patient’s symptoms. Based on the background information provided in the activity, it is up to the doctor to determine the appropriate follow-up questions to ask and which tests to perform in order to accurately diagnose the patient’s condition from a list of 35 possible diseases.
Complete for 30 students working in groups of three. All materials are completely reusable.
