In this lab students are investigating potassium-40. Potassium, one of the most abundant minerals on Earth, is present. Students use dominos to simulate a chain reaction in a nuclear reactor. They model both a critical and a supercritical process to better understand why uranium-238 is used as nuclear reactor fuel as opposed to the much more common uranium-235.
