Product Details

Just how thick is molasses? Density and specific gravity of liquids are determined with an instrument called a hydrometer. In this experiment, students construct a hydrometer and calibrate it using liquids with known density or specific gravity values. Once calibrated, students use the hydrometers to determine the densities of several unknown liquid samples. Teacher Notes, extensive background material, and reproducible student handouts are included, along with all chemicals and supplies needed to perform the lab. Complete for 30 students working in pairs.
