With the heating element, students can determine the electrical equivalent of heat, or they can use the calorimeter without the heating element as a standard double-walled calorimeter. The spring heating element operates on 0–6 V DC and approximately 2–3.5 W. The 1.7-cm thick polystyrene lining, plastic insulator ring and aluminum heat reservoir are designed to control heat loss. Reservoir has 150-mL capacity and has a built-in thermometer cork. Size: 10.5 cm diameter x 10 cm high.
