Product Details

Students integrate technology and inquiry while learning about enzyme function! Students design and conduct experiments to investigate enzyme reaction rate using purified catalase and a Vernier O2 Gas Sensor. In the introductory activity, students precisely control the concentration of catalase while varying the concentration of the substrate. Students easily determine the rate of reaction using data analysis software. Students then design and conduct their own experiments, discovering what makes enzymes function most efficiently. Connect this investigation to the importance of maintaining homeostasis for proper enzyme function and the role of enzymes in evolution.

Super Value Kit is complete for 5 classes of 30 students working in pairs. A Vernier interface and O2 Gas Sensor are required and available separately.
