How a Food Web is Formed— Super Value Game
Use this game to help students learn how organisms are related in a food chain or food web. Students view more than 120 organism illustrations, study characteris-
tics and determine “who eats whom” as they assemble a food chain from a deck of special habitat cards. As more organisms are selected, the food chain develops into a complex food web.

Estimating Populations—Super Value Kit
Students capture individuals in a simulated population, “tag” them and release them and back into the population. After multiple trials, students mathematically predict the size of the population and then count the actual population to determine the reliabil- ity of the mark/recapture technique.

Frog Pond Population Kit—Super Value Game
This hands-on card game simulates a frog population of a local pond under both natu- ral- and human-influenced situations. As the game progresses, students see firsthand how quickly a frog population can be affected by various factors. The cycles of the frog popu- lation are modeled, graphed and further researched. Includes complete Teacher Notes, reproducible student handouts and enough materials for five groups of students.

Survival Island—Super Value Kit
This simple and fun simulation illustrates that natural resources are limited and deplet-
ing them can be disastrous. The game-like simulation mimics the real Easter Island—the catastrophic story of a small island off the Chilean coast. Survival Island has a finite area and resources. Once inhabited, the popu- lation grows rapidly, and decisions about resource use become critical for survival.

Duckweed Population Study— Student Laboratory Kit
Witness a population explosion right in the classroom as students nurture and experi- ment with living duckweed plants. Students design their own experiments to determine factors that can affect the rate of the popu- lation explosion. Duckweed cultures are available separately.

Soil Ecology Lab Manual
Through 18 labs, students learn how envi- ronmental factors like the nitrogen cycle, pH, plants, precipitation and UV radiation affect soil as well as how to perform serial dilutions, extract protozoa and count bacte- ria and yeast colonies. Students discover how the ecology of soil influences multicel- lular organisms on Earth. 88 pages, 81⁄2" x 11", soft cover.
