Guided-Inquiry Kit
Economy Choice
Each student group constructs and tests
an easy-to-assemble balloon-powered car prototype. Next, they use their knowledge of forces and Newton’s laws to identify vari- ables that may affect the car’s performance. Modifications are made to the design in order to investigate one or more variables. Finally, the redesigned cars are put to the challenge! Complete for 30 students work- ing in pairs.
AP7922 | $51.20
Teach experimental design with Newton’s laws of motion and rocket thrust. Students tether a balloon to fishing line and find
a successful combination of orientation, drag and thrust that can launch the balloon across the room. Students run various
trials and modify balloon rockets based on findings. Includes background informa- tion, Teacher Notes with teaching tips and answers to questions.
AP6927 | $40.60
Demonstrate that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Lift and drop one ball to see one ball pop out from the other side. Lift two balls and two pop out. Leave this popular “toy” on your desk for a school year of enjoyment and learning.
AP9211 | $24.20
Force and Motion—Super Value Laboratory Kit
Explore force and motion with five experiments on the topics of balanced and unbalanced forces on inclined planes, frictional forces, Hooke’s law, rotational motion and one-dimen- sional collisions. With easy-to-set-up lab stations, students can complete all activities in two class periods. Includes most materials, instructions, student worksheets, sample data and answers to questions.
AP6929 | $161.40
FLINN SCIENTIFIC I FORCES
This fun activity provides a real-world appli- cation of Newton’s third law—also called the law of action-reaction—and Bernoulli’s principle. Students discover the advantages and disadvantages of both triangular and square sails—only one will provide forward motion into the wind. Includes student handouts, instructions, sample data and answers to questions. Complete for eight student groups.
