Rubber Band Cannon—Super
Ballistic Car
Give key motion concepts visual meaning. Place a ball in the spring-loaded cylinder and set the car in motion. Pull on the magnet to launch the ball in the air. As the car moves, the ball returns to the cylinder! Analysis of the independence of horizontal and vertical motion will lead to great discussions. Includes magnetic strip, steel ball, car, instructions and background information.

Air Pucks—Classroom Set
Use this set of 30 air pucks to explore Newton’s laws of motion. No air table needed—the pucks float above any smooth, flat surface as air escapes from a balloon. Students investigate the principles of iner-
tia, collisions, velocity and acceleration. The pucks’ masses can be changed with washers or pennies. Includes reproducible student handouts, teacher notes with sample data and 50 balloons.

Inertial Balance
Help students understand the difference between mass and weight with the Inertial Balance. With one end of this apparatus clamped to a table, students will measure the oscillating motion of the spring steel strips. When mass is added to the free end, the iner- tia is increased and it oscillates more slowly. Students can then determine the relationship between gravitational mass and inertial mass.

Value Laboratory Kit
Students can safely use their rubber band firing skills—and the scientific method—to learn about the properties of falling objects and projectile motion. Students must use their data to “dial in” the proper settings to shoot the rubber band onto the target. A great way for students to test the predictability of their results. Includes reproducible student hand- outs and Teacher Notes.

Newton’s Laws—Activity Stations Kit
Newton’s laws govern all physical motions and interactions. In this activity-stations lab, students investigate inertia, force and acceleration with air pucks, carts and pulleys with hang- ing weights and balloon rockets. Each mini lab activity takes 10–15 minutes. Includes supplies for two stations for each activity. Includes Teacher Notes, background information and repro- ducible student handouts.
