     Plant Wars
Allelopathy is when plants release chemi- cals that inhibit the growth of other plants. A well-known example is the black walnut, which secretes juglone, a toxic substance to many plants like tomatoes, which suffer “walnut wilt” and die if their roots contact the tree’s roots. Students germinate two types of seeds to determine allelopathy between the species.

Gibberellic Acid and Plants— Student Laboratory Kit
What effects do hormones have on plants? Will varying concentrations affect plants differ- ently? In this introduction to plant hormones, students see firsthand the powerful effects
of gibberellic acid by placing varying solu- tion concentrations on bean seedlings then observing and recording the exciting results. Students also can design and conduct their own gibberellic acid experiments.
Seed Germination Set
Students use a variety of “liquids” on radish seeds to determine their impact on germi- nation. The results will surprise students on how sensitive seeds can be to their surround- ings. Teacher Notes, reproducible student handouts and all necessary chemicals and specialized equipment are provided.
