Chemical labeling is easy with Flinn Compatible
Chemical Family Storage Labels. Made of heavy, vinylized paper, each chemical family label is color-coded. Large I or O designates inorganic or organic families. All families are included. Self-adhesive labels, 4" wide x 1" tall, will remain permanently affixed to your storage shelves or cabinets.
Set includes 2 sheets of 20 labels; 40 labels in total.
Compatible Chemical

Flinn chemicals have the appropriate compatible chem-
ical family designation shown on the label. If you buy Flinn chemicals, you will not need additional labels. However, if you often prepare your own solutions, these are your labels. Self-adhesive labels are color-coded and printed on durable vinylized paper stock. Large letter I or O desig- nates an inorganic or organic substance, with a separate color for each of the 11 inorganic and 10 organic families. Labels match the color codes used on our SE4030 shelf labels. Large printing ensures brightly colored labels can be read from a distance. Labels measure 15⁄8" wide x 1⁄2" tall.
Available in individual packages of 40 labels or in a complete set of 840 labels containing all chemical family designations.

Multi-Demonstration Kit
The most important lesson for students to learn in
science is also the first—safety first! Engage students’ interest in the essential rules of laboratory safety with this set of four persuasive demonstrations.
• Acid in the Eye—Put on your goggles! Adding strong acid to an egg
white causes irreversible damage, just as it would to proteins in body
tissue. Wearing proper laboratory protection is non-negotiable!
• Grease Fire—Never use water to extinguish a grease fire. Pouring water on melted candle wax causes a fireball to erupt and jaws to drop! • Flaming Vapor Ramp—The hardest concepts to understand are those we cannot see! Reveal the invisible hazards of flammable gases by
igniting hexane vapor poured down a metal track.
• SDS Challenge—Students identify a mystery chemical by applying
the information found on the Safety Data Sheets. A great inquiry-
based activity!
Concepts: Acid safety, combustion, fire safety, SDS, chemical properties.
Time Required: 20 minutes
Materials Provided: Hexanes, vapor ramp, candles, hydrochlo- ric acid, sodium bicarbonate, evaporating dish, Petri dish, Safety Data Sheets, Beral-type pipet.
