Technical Note: This enzyme is used to decompose hydrogen peroxide. Units of activity are shown on the bottle label and vary from lot to lot. Currently our label shows 3800 units per milligram solid. We also provide a technical data sheet to help you prepare catalase solutions. Catalase solution must always be very fresh. Even a solution that is just a few hours old will render poor results.

Good-Bye to
Chlorine and Bromine Water
Disposing of these two solutions is easy. How? Shake the contents of the bottle well. Unscrew the bottle cap and place the bottle under your efficiently operating fume hood. Both chlorine and bromine will vaporize and leave the bottle. Every now and then put the cap back on, shake the bottle and again remove the cap. It does not take long for all the halogen to evaporate. You will be left with a bottle of water, which can be poured down the drain. How can you tell when all the halogen is gone? The odor is gone!
HAZARD ALERT: Slightly toxic by ingestion. LD50 2600 mg/kg. Storage: Inorganic #2
Disposal: #26a
Shelf Life: Somewhat hygroscopic, keep tightly closed. Soluble: Water
Color and Odor: White, odorless solid.
CAS No. 7647-17-8
Technical Note: Produces a brilliant violet color in flame tests.
