Goggles, Chemical Splash
Fabricated from soft vinyl, a double flange cushion at the top and bottom of the goggle conforms to facial contours for extra comfort. The 2 mm thick clear lenses are made of durable polycarbonate. Ventilation is provided through the lens channels as well as the molded-in vents. Chemical splashes cannot enter the goggle. Lenses are easily replaced; replacement parts are listed below. AP3306 and AP3309 meet Z87+ D3 standards. AP3312 and AP3315 meet ANSI Z87.1–2003 standards. SE1049 meets Z87+D3, D4, D5 standards.

A Practical Goggle Policy
If the department owns the goggles, the department (which essentially means the lab manager) is respon- sible for goggle hygiene. You invest in sterilizers, cleaning solutions and other means of assuring a sani- tary goggle. Discuss with administrators the practical aspects of students purchasing their own pair of goggles. Your institution saves money by not having to furnish goggles—and you don’t need to worry about the hygiene problems associated with sharing goggles.

Make Your Own Colorful Goggles

Let the creativity flow as students create their own
personalized “designer” goggles! With this colorful goggle-dyeing kit, students can choose their favorite colors, school colors, or multi-colors and turn a standard pair of chemical-splash goggles into a pair with unique design. Students will have fun with this lab and will be much more likely to wear their goggles! This lab can help teach the chemistry of dyes and the dyeing process at the same time it stresses an important safety rule—wearing goggles is critical in laboratory situations! Five colored dyes—red, blue, purple, gold, and black—are included in the kit. Instructor tips and a reproducible student handout are included. Note: Chemical-splash goggles and large beakers or pots are needed but not provided in the kit.
Super Value Kit: Enough dye is provided for 5 classes of 30 students to each dye a pair of goggles.
