Needle Tip Disposable Pipets
An economical choice for dispensing microliter quantities of liquid. Ideal for basic student biotechnology laboratory experiments. Using expensive micropipettors can be tricky. Students, on the other hand, immediately know how to regulate these simple needle tip pipets. They will destroy fewer agarose trays with these soft-tipped pipets—saving you money on both agarose and pipets. The pipets are disposable. The end needle point holds approximately 10 microliters of liquid. Other divisions on the pipet can be calibrated if desired.
Electrophoresis Gel Casting Tray
Simplify the workflow in your classroom by having extra gel casting trays on hand! Gels can set while other gels are running and students can more easily share equipment. This electrophoresis tray fits Flinn elec- trophoresis apparatus that accommodate at least a 14-cm long tray. This tray runs longer gels in a single apparatus or six-gel apparatus (three trays will fit) for great separation of bands. This product is for replacement or addition to your existing supply. Includes one molded plastic gel casting tray and end caps. Requires well combs and an electrophoresis apparatus with power supply.
Gel Staining, Trays, Pkg. of 6
A white polypropylene base with a clear, tight-fitting, polypropylene lid, ideal for gel staining and many other uses. Resistant to commonly used solvents and stains. Measures 81⁄8" x 51⁄2" x 11⁄2" with a capacity of 28 ounces. Package of six.

Biotechnology—DNA and Restriction Enzymes
Ready-to-Run DNA
Digests and ladder are ready-to-run. Simply pipet the samples into the wells of an agarose gel and run the electrophoresis apparatus. The 80 μL volume is enough for 6 separate wells or about 13 μL per well. If necessary, 72 μL of glycerin may be added to each microcentrifuge tube. Once blended, 25 μL of the resulting solution can be added to each well. Ready-to-run DNA should be stored in the freezer. Available September 15 to May 15.

Lambda phage DNA
Lyophilized lambda phage DNA is a shelf stable powder. Instructions are included on how to reconstitute the DNA with sterile water and how to run DNA digestion procedures using Dryzymes® or other restriction enzymes. Once reconstituted the DNA must be stored in the freezer. This small bottle contains enough Lambda phage DNA to do 66 digests.

Restriction Enzymes
Use these enzymes to cleave DNA samples for separation on an agarose gel. Each restriction enzyme cleaves the DNA at a different recognition site allowing for fragment comparisons. Dryzymes® come in 3 vials. Each vial contains enough enzymes to complete 500 reactions in a typi- cal Lambda phage digest. Restriction enzymes should be stored in the freezer. Available September 15 to May 15.

Prepare Electrophoresis
Buffers
The following recipes will enable you to prepare your own buffer solutions for nucleic acid (RNA and DNA) electrophoresis. These buffer solutions are used to fill the electrophoresis chamber and also to prepare the agarose gel mixture. Recipes are for 10X concentrate solutions—offering longer shelf life and requiring less space. Mix the ingredi- ents detailed below with 750 mL of distilled or deionized water. Stir to dissolve, and dilute to a final volume of 1 liter. Prepare the 1X working strength solution, as needed, by mixing 1 part concentrate with 9 parts distilled or deionized water.
10X Tris-Borate-EDTA (TBE) Buffer
108.00 g Tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane 55.00 g Boric acid
7.44 g EDTA, disodium, dihydrate
10X Tris-Acetate-EDTA (TAE) Buffer
48.44 g Tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane 11.42 mL Acetic acid, glacial (17.4 M)
3.7 g EDTA, disodium, dihydrate
