Flinn University Binocular Compound Microscope
This microscope delivers rugged performance and ease of use for the general university laboratory or STEM-oriented high school . The Gemel binocular head with dual diopter adjustment secures the high point Plan eyepieces . Ergonomically designed with a reverse nosepiece, low position coaxial focus knob and low position coaxial stage control to reduce fatigue . The oversized stage easily accommodates two slides for comparative analy- sis . Cool LED illumination provides efficient and even lighting through the fixed Kohler condenser and iris diaphragm . The Flinn name is backed by our quality guarantee at a price that cannot be beat!
Additional features include:
• Color-corrected finite Plan Objectives
• Gemel Binocular Head, 30o incline, 360o rotation, 54–75 mm interpu-
pilary range
• Plan Eyepieces:10X/20 mm, high point, widefield
• Mechanical stage with low position coaxial controls, 150 x 140 mm
• N .A .1 .25ABBEachromaticcondenserwithirisdiaphragmandfilterholder
• 3W LED illumination with rheostat control
• Coaxial coarse and file focus adjustment
• Reversed quadruple nosepiece

Get Inside the Black Box of Optical Quality
All Flinn Economy and Advanced microscopes have 10X magnification, widefield eyepieces, meaning the field of view is larger than standard eyepieces . The eyepieces in the Advanced microscopes are also Plan eyepieces . A Plan eyepiece has three lenses within the eyepiece—one achro- matic doublet and two plano-convex lenses with the convex lenses facing each other . The additional lenses in the Plan eyepiece result in a higher qual- ity image with less aberration on the edges of the field of view . Economy eyepieces are achromatic and have two lenses—an achromatic doublet and a convex-plano lens with the convex side facing the doublet .
Objective lenses are the first point of magnification and the first to collect light after it passes through the specimen . Flinn Advanced Superior compound microscopes have Plan achromatic objectives . They consist of a series of precisely placed doublet and triplet lenses (see Figure 1) that eliminate nearly all field curvature, meaning that light exits the objective lens magnified and hits the focal point precisely . The edges and the center of the field of view appear in nearly true color and focus .
