The Orbiter Planetarium,
Orbital Speed—Demonstration Kit
In this demonstration, a unique hand held apparatus will be assembled and used to demonstrate orbital speed and centripetal force. Students will use the data collected during the demonstration to calculate the orbital speed of a stopper and to discover the relationships between gravitational force, orbital radius and orbital speed. A great activity to show students that in order for a planet, star or satellite to maintain orbit, the object must travel at a specific speed. Complete instructions and a reproducible student worksheet are provided.

Why does the Moon appear to have differ- ent shapes that repeat on a monthly cycle? What do the terms waxing and waning mean? In this activity, students will map the orbit of the Moon for a full month’s time! Learning the phases of the Moon has never been so easy!

Illuminate the Sun to demonstrate daylight, night, seasons and phase of the Moon.
The Sun, Earth and Moon manually revolve around one another in this gear-driven model. Earth and Moon are to scale. Arm is 15", Sun is 6", and the Earth is 4". Includes an 8-page packet with student activities. 6" power cord plugs into a standard wall outlet. 251⁄2" x 16" x 101⁄2".

Overhead Demonstration Kit
What causes our seasons on Earth? How does Earth’s revolution around the Sun influence the changing of the seasons? Demonstrate and explain the answers
to these questions and more using this low-cost, highly visual kit! The Earth model allows students to observe the seasonal change in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and the variation in day length in different areas of the world throughout the year.
AP6150 | $14.05
Innovative activity model gives students hands-on experience investigating how objects move across the surface of a rotating planet due to the Coriolis Effect. Students will study the effect of temperature and the Coriolis Effect on ocean currents and also compare the influence of the Coriolis Effect on the atmosphere in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Fascinating simula- tion! Kit includes materials and Coriolis Effect models for five student groups.
AP7346 | $76.65
How do planets travel around the Sun? This simple overhead apparatus helps illustrate the elliptical orbits of the planets. Students will use observations from the teacher demonstration and perform mathematical calculations to find the elliptical orbits. Easily fits on any standard overhead projector. Kit includes the overhead demonstration device, string and a set of mark- ers. Complete with teacher instructions and detailed background section.
