Heredity & Environment— Student Laboratory Kit
Students investigate the age-old question of heredity vs. environment using albino tobacco seeds from heterozygous parents. Some seeds are germinated in light and others in the dark. Students must use data to defend heredity or environment. An excellent starting point for a more in-depth discussion!

Plants in the Spotlight—
A Photosynthesis Investigation— Student Laboratory Kit
This cooperative class activity explores whether plants prefer certain wavelengths of light for photosynthesis and how environmental condi- tions affect the rate of photosynthesis. Using Hornwort, an aquatic plant, groups experiment with different variables to investigate changes in the rate of photosynthesis. Class data are pooled, graphed and analyzed. Includes chemi- cals, test tubes and colored filters for 30 students working in groups of three. Hornwort is available separately.

Plants & Pollutants— Student Laboratory Kit
What are pollutants to plants? How concen- trated do pollutants have to be to affect plants? Students experiment with different types of chemicals on radish seeds and discover answers to these questions. Teacher Notes, reproducible student handouts and all necessary chemicals and specialized equipment are provided.

The Grass Won’t Grow— Student Laboratory Kit
Why does grass grow in one area and not another? In this activity, seeds are planted in two different environments and the results of growth compared. Using the scientific method, students define the problem, make observations, develop a hypothesis, design and conduct an experiment, analyze data and draw a conclusion.

Habitat Hold ’Em
An exciting and informative game to help students learn about food chains, food webs and habitats! Students use a deck of “creature cards” and follow the basic rules of the popular Texas Hold ’Em game to learn more about “who eats whom” in a habitat. After the game is played, the resulting food chains are analyzed and food webs are formed.
