In this lab experience, students observe that metals can conduct electricity, that ceramics are strong but rigid and that adding branches and crosslinks to polymers results in a stronger, more rigid, plastic. Students will link the bulk properties of materials to the observations that they made when examining their atomic and molecular scale models.
