Engineering Design Challenge
In this lab experience, students are challenged to develop a process of water purification and assess benefits and costs and whether the process was fully successful. Students will purify water samples with a cost limit and provided purification materials. Students test their water samples with a 0.02% sodium rhodizonate solution.

Safety:
Before conducting the lab, review the safety precautions on the student page with the class. Then discuss any safety precautions that are specific to your science laboratory or classroom. Goggles, apron, and gloves are required since students will be working with aqueous solutions. Good ventilation is required since gas is a product in certain reactions.
