In this lab experience, students draw two ellipses with different eccentricities to model the shape of planetary orbits. They determine the eccentricity of each ellipse by dividing the distance between the foci by the length of the major axis. In addition, they explore the geometry of ellipses, and the implications of this geometry on the trajectory of the planets around the sun. This lab does not include VR.
