Chemiluminescence! Simply bend these plastic light sticks to generate light. Each plastic tube contains a glass ampule that is broken when the tube is bent. The plastic tube and the glass ampule contain different chemicals that mix and react once the ampule is broken. The resulting chemical reaction produces light—chemiluminescence.
All chemicals involved are safe, and the tubes can simply be discarded in the trash when exhausted. Each light stick will remain lit for about 12 hours. Packaged in individual foil wrappers, the sticks can be stored in this wrapper until ready for use—up to four years. Each light stick measures 6" long × 5/8" diameter.
