All nitrates are soluble! Most hydroxides are insoluble! Rather than memorizing solubility rules like this, students investigate precipitation reactions and then develop their own general rules of solubility—exactly what the National Science Standards are calling for! Students perform 42 chemical reactions by combining sets of salt solutions. From their observations, students generate lists of soluble and insoluble substances. By analyzing patterns and making some generalizations, students develop solubility rules. Detailed Teacher Notes and reproducible student handouts include easy-to-follow lab instructions, data tables, helpful tips and sample data.

Super Value Kit is complete for 5 classes of 30 students working in pairs. Fifteen reusable 48-well reaction plates are recommended and available separately.
