Clearly demonstrate simple harmonic motion and the conservation of energy with this large, easy-to-see pendulum setup. Students will unmistakably see the pendulum swing evenly from side to side in simple harmonic motion. Use the Flinn PSworks Photogate Timer to accurately measure the period of the pendulum or the speed of the pendulum bob at the bottom of the swing. The length of the string can be quickly changed to measure the change in period. How will a change in mass affect the period? Two pendulum bobs are provided. A Flinn PSworks Support Stand is required, but not included. Photogate Timer is a recommended option.
