This low-maintenance, economical single-stage vacuum pump is fast and easy to operate, making it an excellent choice for routine laboratory applications. The oil-less design produces a moderate vacuum of 150 mm Hg (approximately ⅕ normal pressure) and can also generate a positive pressure of 3,192 mm Hg—about 4.2 times normal room pressure. The pump delivers 31 liters/min. open flow and operates with a durable 1/8-hp motor running at 1725 rpm. Additional features include built-in gauges, an on/off switch on the power cord, carrying handle, rubber feet for stability, and acceptance of ¼" i.d. tubing. The unit operates on 115 V, 60 Hz and weighs 15 lbs. For the classic Boil Water in a Bell Jar experiment, Flinn recommends using the Two-Stage Vacuum Pump (AP1597).
