Investigation 3: Earth's Interior

product

Investigate the Rock Cycle

Performance Assessment

In this lab experience, students track a rock through stages of the rock cycle by moving from one station to another based on a roll of the rock cycle die at each station illustrating how matter is cycled. The various stages experienced and the amount of time spent at each will be recorded. Students gain a better understanding of the different kinds of rocks, their formation and the process that transitions them to other forms through this role-playing activity.

The Rise and Fall of Pangaea

In this lab experience, students participate in an investigation to evaluate several types of evidence that support the theory of plate tectonics. Arranging both continental and oceanic plates based off historical positions will illustrate how the surface of Earth has changed throughout history.
