360Science™: DNA Forensics

In this lab, six groups of students will use a pre-stained gel to measure each of four DNA fragment bands from one simulated crime scene sample and samples from three “suspects.” The students will use the “police report” and the results from the electrophoresis to formulate an explanation of which suspect they believe is the criminal.
