In this lab experience, students find equipotential lines created by two different charge configurations, and map out the resulting electric fields. Editable, differentiated instructions range from a time-sensitive prescriptive lab to full open inquiry, and robust online videos and content help students prepare for and better understand the labs they’re conducting.

Concepts: Electric Fields, Electric Potential, Coulomb’s Law, Equipotential Lines
Outcomes: Students locate the equipotential lines created by a two-point and a parallel plates charge configuration. Upon tracing the equipotential lines, students will be able to sketch the electric field map generated by these charge configurations.
Associated Phenomena: How can charged objects affect each other at a distance?
Our 1-year option provides access to all digital content for one year plus lab supplies for a single class of 30 students. Our 3-year option extends access to digital content to three years at a discount.
