The Solar Cockroach is a simple activity that quickly and efficiently introduces students to the concepts of solar energy, motion and engineering. No batteries required, solar energy powers the cockroach. Construction takes about 10–20 minutes, and the lesson can be expanded as students investigate different light sources and intensities.
