Investigating Light and Optics— Student Laboratory Kit
Students perform five hands-on experi- ments to examine the nature of light, color and optics. Observe the reflection of light using mirrors, observe the refraction of light through water and transparent objects, investigate concave and convex lenses to learn how to focus a “real image” onto a screen and create a working telescope, compare the properties of plastics using polarized light and learn the difference between color mixing by addition and by subtraction.
AP7055 I $155.45
Color and Light—
Spectrum Demonstration Kit
This demonstration uses a diffraction grating and an overhead projector to cast a large spectrum onto a wall or projection screen. The pure colors of the projected spectrum are then manipulated with the simple materials in the kit to study where color originates. All the materials, except the food dye, can be reused.
AP6172 I $44.85
Energetic Light—
Chemical Demonstration Kit
Demonstrate the conversion of chem-
ical energy into light energy for nearly
10 minutes. Simply turn down the lights, combine two solutions and then listen to the oohs and aahs from your students. Enough materials are provided to perform the demonstration seven times.
AP8978 I $26.00
Cool Light—
Chemical Demonstration Kit
Wow your students as you demonstrate a basic chemiluminescence experiment. You will prepare two solutions and pour them simultaneously into a flask. Voilà! A beautiful blue glow! An instruction sheet with a short history of chemiluminescence and enough chemicals for seven demonstrations are provided.
AP8627 I $31.15
Flame Test—
Student Laboratory Kit
Add a splash of color to your flame! In
this kit, students simply dip a moistened wooden splint in a solid metallic salt, then place the wooden splint in the flame. They will be able to identify the color of light emitted for calcium, copper, lithium, potas- sium, sodium and strontium.
AP5607 I $30.10
Chemiluminescent Elephant ̓s Toothpaste—Chemical Demonstration Kit
A new twist on an old favorite! When yeast is the catalyst and light stick chemicals are added, volumes and volumes of glowing foam are created. Use this demonstration to teach the concepts of chemiluminescence, decomposition reactions and catalysts. Includes complete directions, student questions with answer key and enough materials for seven demonstrations. A large demonstration tray (Catalog No. AP5429) is recommended.
