Plant Tropisms—Student Laboratory Kit
Do sunscreens really work? Are SPF ratings accurate? Students use sun print paper
to measure the relative effectiveness of sunscreens of varying SPF ratings. After preliminary results, further experimentation can be done to compare brands or test other variables affecting the effectiveness of sunscreens. Enough materials are provided for 60 trials of the experiment.

Plant Symbiosis and Nitrogen Fixation Kit
This kit is designed to illustrate the rela- tionships between bacteria, nitrogen fixation, nitrogen cycling and plant nutrient requirements. Your students will learn what farmers have known for some time—the role that bacteria play and how plants benefit. Students plant grass seeds that they main- tain on three different nutrient media and monitor relative growth over a 25-day study period. Materials supplied for 24 students working in teams of three.
Conditions That Affect Transpiration—Guided-Inquiry Kit
Students develop a hypothesis and then design and carry out an experiment to determine how different factors affect transpiration. Kit provides step-by-step instructions for building a potometer, a standard laboratory device used to measure transpiration. Enough materials are provided for 30 students working in groups of five. A 0.001-g precision balance, support stands, clamps and supplies to simulate wind, humidity, light and dark conditions are required but not provided.

FB1931 I $71.75 Hydroponics System
A simple, inexpensive and space-saving method to introduce hydroponics gardening into the classroom. The garden contains six individual planters that allow you to rotate or add new plants as needed. Each planter rests in a pump-aerated nutrient solution that allows plants to absorb food and water as they need it. Pour in a little nutrient and water every week and that’s it! Your students will be amazed that plants can grow without soil.

Nutrient Deficiency in Plants—Hydroponics Laboratory Kit
Students will compare hydroponically grown plants with plants grown in soil. They will be amazed as they watch plants grow without soil! In their experimentation, they will also study the effects of missing macro- and micro-nutri- ents. Complete set of materials provided for 15 laboratory groups. Includes detailed instructions, hydroponics back- ground and anticipated results.
