 Heavy Metals
Heavy metals, including cadmium and cadmium compounds, are most dangerous if inhaled as a fume or fine dust. Water soluble compounds of heavy metals are also toxic, but inhalation and ingestion are extremely unlikely. If the cadmium you intend to use will not generate a dust that can be inhaled, prudent prac- tice suggests that it is not necessary to ban the material. Many heavy metals serve useful purposes in everyday life. Know the substance, how it can hurt you and how it can be properly disposed of. Don’t be chemophobic!
