Hood Storage of Chemicals
Reasons not to use a hood for chemical storage:
1. Hoods do not provide a secure storage space.
2. Labels may be damaged beyond recognition due to constant
exposure to a corrosive environment.
3. The presence of hazardous materials stored under a hood
would seriously complicate a hood fire.
4. Storing chemicals in the hood reduces available work space.
5. Many fume motor/blower sets are not designed for contin-
uous, 24-hour operation.
HAZARD ALERT: Flammable liquid; fire risk; severe body tissue irritant; possible sensitizer. Stabilized with 50–500 ppm methyl hydroquinone (inhibitor). TLV 410 mg/m3.
Storage: Organic #3 in a dedicated flammables cabinet. If one is not available, store in a Flinn Saf-Stor TM Can.
