What Does TLV Mean?
Threshold Limit Value (TLV) is an estimate of the average concentration of a substance that can be safely tolerated on a repeat basis, usually during an 8-hour period on a day-to-day basis. The units of TLV are parts per million (ppm) or milli- grams per cubic meter (mg/m3). The TLV is usually defined for airborne hazards (e.g., gases, mists, dust). For more information, review the article on pages 196–199.
