Use a Gas Collecting Tube for Determining Molar Volume
• Carefully invert the completely filled tube into a large container of water.
• As hydrogen gas is produced, water is displaced through the one-hole stopper.
• Allow the reaction to proceed to completion.
• Equalize the gas pressure with the atmosphere by adjusting the height of the tube so the water levels are the same inside and out.
