Demineralizer, Hose Nipple Type, Cartridges and Accessories
Demineralizer, Barnstead, Hose Nipple Type
Excellent, economical source of pure water. Hose nipple cartridges easily connect to your water source using ordinary 3⁄8" laboratory tubing (not provided). No special equipment or hardware is required. The cartridges are single use, disposable cartridges. A dye resin in the cartridge changes color when the cartridge is exhausted. How many gallons of pure water will the demineralizer provide? The answer will depend on your water quality. Contact your local water department to determine the “grain” content of your water source. Select your cartridge based on local water quality.
If you wish to mount your “Hose Nipple” Demineralizer on the wall, purchase the Cartridge Wall Bracket Holder, AP1266. The wall holder is not furnished with the Hose Nipple Demineralizer.
Standard Cartridge
Two bed ion exchange resin with a “grain” capacity of 1650 grains of dissolved salts. This cartridge would be the first choice for volume and economy.
Ultrapure Cartridge
Ultrapure mixed bed ion exchange resin with a capacity of 915 “grains.” Even though the “grain” capacity is low, the water produced is of “research” quality. If you might need CO2-free water, this cartridge would be your choice.
Organic Removal Cartridge
Cartridge contains an activated carbon for removal of organics and chlorine commonly found in tap water. This cartridge would normally be placed in line in front of the demineralizer cartridge so that a two- cartridge system is used. The first cartridge connected to your water supply would be organic removal. Follow that with a demineralizer cartridge.
Cartridge Wall Bracket Holder
You may wish to mount your demineralizer cartridge on the wall and allow more bench space. Bracket holds the cartridge in a vertical posi- tion without using clamps. The front of the cartridge holder is slotted to permit visibility of the cartridge, which changes color to signify exhaustion.

Hydrion Low Ion pH Test Kit
High-quality water may not have enough ions to provide a reliable pH value. If you use standard pH indicator paper, the indicator in the test paper may be the only contaminant present when you dip it in the water, resulting in an erroneous pH value. This low ion test kit provides you with a sample tube, special low ion test paper (roll of 25 feet) and a color comparison chart. Unlike most test paper, this paper is not to be dipped. Place the paper in the sample tube and add your unknown liquid. Cap the tube and shake, then read the pH value by holding the tube against the color comparison chart.
