M12 CompleteTM Electrophoresis Package
A horizontal agarose gel electrophoresis apparatus designed for ease in gel casting, handling and sample delivery. Engineered to yield sharp, high-quality DNA/RNA and protein bands.
Safe to use and durably constructed of non-conductive injection- molded acrylic that eliminates leaks. The lid is secured over large color-coded push tabs for easy lid insertion and removal. The clear, contoured lid provides optimal visual monitoring of the run, and improved ventilation reduces lid condensation. The platinum-coated electrodes are replaceable with a simple cartridge swap! Leads are recessed into the lid for safety.
Includes two 7 x 7 cm gel trays and a long, one-piece 7 x 14 cm casting tray imprinted with a centimeter scale. Four rubber end gaskets mean no more messy and awkward taping. Also includes two 6-place and two dual 8/10-place well-forming combs. Requires power supply, such as FB0315 or FB0316.
Gemini Split TrayTM
An accessory to the MiniGel apparatus. With the Gemini Split TrayTM two separate 7 x 7 cm gels can be run simultaneously. Separate gels greatly increase equipment versatility and facilitate student group use and analysis of results. Eliminate the problem of students crowding around a single gel and, at the same time, increase participation in the process. The split tray package includes two acrylic trays, acrylic plat- form bridge, four rubber end gaskets and two 6-place injection molded well-former templates.
Dual Electrophoresis Apparatus
Save time and money by running two electrophoresis gel trays simultaneously with this high-quality dual apparatus. The seamless, injection-molded unit is designed for easy, safe operation. The lid is transparent for clear monitoring of the run and features two push tabs for easy assembly and removal. The adjustable leveling feet make the fluid level uniform and assure better experimental results. The plati- num-coated electrodes are removable, making repair simple, and the leads are safety-coated and recessed into the lid. The apparatus includes two removable 7 x 7 cm casting trays with rubber end stoppers and two sets of combs to make gels with 6, 8 or 10 wells. Requires power supply such as FB0315 or FB0316.

Time Required for Electrophoresis
Time requirements for experiments requiring electrophoresis are variable. Typically, gel preparation and setup requires 20 to 30 minutes—after which gels may be stored, under buffer, for up to three days. Gel running times, for standard gels, average two hours at 50 volts. Running times are longer at lower voltage and shorter at higher voltage. Running times are also shorter if using split trays. Gel staining requires approximately 30 minutes. Destaining will be complete in 2–4 hours—although gels may remain in destaining solution overnight if necessary.
