Seine Net
This durable, easy-to-handle seine is ideal for the capture and census of macroinvertebrates, minnows, and other small fish. Enhance studies of freshwater ponds and streams by collecting data on fish diversity and population sizes. Netting is woven polyester with a 1⁄8" mesh. The seine is 15' L x 4' D, and comes fully assembled with lead weights on the bottom line, and high-density foam floats on the top line. Fifteen- foot length can be easily handled by two students. To facilitate use of the seine, a pair of net poles is available separately. Poles are one-inch diameter, texture-grip aluminum, 51" long, with protective end caps, and holes at either end for tying off seine ropes.
Stream Flowmeter, Hand-Held
Take accurate measurements of stream velocity with this basic, easy-to- use hand-held flowmeter. Just lower the impeller stick into the flow of moving water, attach “riser rods,” start the counter, and read the digital display on the flowmeter. Includes durable plastic 3-foot impeller stick that easily disassembles into four sections for convenient storage, protective pouch to store the flowmeter, three “riser rods” to elevate the impeller off the stream bed, and a 30-page operation manual with laminated calibration charts and reproducible data collection sheets. Operates on two AAA batteries for over 100 hours of use. Supplied in a handy waterproof storage/carrying box. Batteries included.
Thermometer, Armored
Spirit-filled thermometer encased in tough plastic armor with window opening for easy reading. Tie-loop is provided at the top of the armor allowing the instrument to be easily lowered into the water. Scale is permanently fused into the glass and cannot be destroyed. Range is 0–50 °C. Length is 6".
Long-Handled Water Dippers
Collect water samples with ease with this light and economical long- handled water dipper. Made of high-density polyethylene, the strong honeycomb tube is ribbed for a sure grip. The polypropylene cup has threaded fittings that securely screw onto the handle. The end of the handle has a hook for storage. Available in two convenient lengths, each with a 16-oz dipper cup with two pouring spouts, useful for both right- and left-handed people.
Water Sampler
An efficient yet inexpensive way to sample water from any desired depth. Our water sampler includes a unique trigger mechanism that requires only one line to raise and lower the sample chamber and also seal the chamber. The efficient flow-through design of the sampler allows an ample 1.5-liter volume of water to be retrieved. This device is invaluable for monitoring water quality of lakes and determining how oxygen content and temperature vary with depth. The water sampler is 9 cm in diameter, 46 cm long, and is supplied with 48 feet (15 m) of 1⁄8" nylon cord.
