  Forensics—Footwear and Print Casting
Forensic Footwear Impression System
Press, spray, pour—three fun and easy steps to create permanent foot- wear castings! Press the footwear into the unique BioFoam® block, spray a thin coating of Dust and Dirt Hardener, and then mix and pour in the Shake-N-CastTM ready-to-use casting material. You can also use the Shake-N-CastTM and Dust and Dirt Hardener to cast prints from soil or sand.
BioFoam® Footwear Impression
Quickly make a footwear impression without damaging or contami- nating the footwear! Special high-density foam captures extremely fine detail. Packaged in a self-storing cardboard container.
Aerosol Dust and Dirt Hardener
Quick-drying, clear acrylic formula adds strength to an impression— lessening the chance of damage to the detail due to the weight of the casting material. Spray a thin coating on the print you wish to cast. 15-oz is enough for 30 full-size, adult shoe impressions. Shake-N-CastTM Impression Kit
Make a permanent impression! Features a self-contained, pre- measured water capsule and dental stone mixture in a single, heavy-duty plastic pouch. Very easy to use with no messy clean-up! Simply apply pressure to break the water capsule, and then shake and knead for 2 minutes before pouring into the shoe or print impression. Includes enough material for a single, adult-sized shoe print.

Casting Frame
Making footwear and tire impressions in the field just got easier! Disposable casting frames hold the casting material in place until it hard- ens. Each frame consists of two strips of heavy-duty, moisture-resistant, corrugated material, which can be assembled in seconds using the adhe- sive tabs. The size of the frame can be adjusted to accommodate most shoe impressions by varying the position of the pieces. To make larger frames for casting tire tread impressions, simply fasten together multiple units. After your cast is dry, removal is easy since the casting material won’t stick to the frame—simply slide it off and throw it away—mess free! Works great with plaster or dental stone casting material!
Includes four disposable casting frames.
Forensics—Glass Analysis
Glass Analysis Principles—
Forensic Laboratory Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
Crime scenes often contain broken glass from windows, cars, vases and numerous other glass items. Matching glass pieces with other glass pieces can reveal patterns that can help explain a criminal sequence. This activity utilizes safe chemicals and simulated glass to safely teach the principles of glass density analysis, a key technique used by criminalists. The flotation technique utilized in this lab will provide the hands-on experience students need to crystallize their general under- standing of density. Students will also appreciate the complexity of glass analysis in crime scene investigations.
Complete for 30 students working in pairs.
