Lung Demonstration Kit—
Healthy Lung vs. Smoker’s Lung
Our lung demonstration kit comes with two sets of specially preserved swine lungs which will retain natural coloration, realistic texture, and long-term elasticity. One pair is used to demonstrate inflation and defla- tion of a healthy lung, while the second pair effectively illustrates the appearance of lungs damaged by years of smoking and abuse. These simulated smoker’s lungs have been realistically stained, and implanted with both visible and palpable tumors. Adaptable for classes in intro- ductory to advanced biology, anatomy and physiology, or health.
Kit includes healthy lungs, simulated smoker’s lungs, inflation rack and tray, bellows pump, section of dried swine lung, and instructor’s guide. The instructor’s guide emphasizes handling, use, and stor- age of the reusable lungs, and includes illustrated details of internal anatomy. Also includes information about lung cancer, smoking, and air pollutants.
Spirometer, Waterless
No more water all over your laboratory. Measure lung capacity with- out the mess associated with water displacement spirometers. This compact, rugged spirometer is as easy to work as it is to breathe. Simply put a disposable mouthpiece on the spirometer and blow into the device. The built-in gauge stops at maximum lung capacity and will stay set at maximum capacity until you reset it for your next trial. The easy-to- read gauge is calibrated in 0.1 L units from 0.0 to 7.0 L.
The device is especially useful for comparing lung volumes between students and for calculating average volume and variance between trials. Comparing volumes before and after exercise or when using other student- designed experiments becomes fast and easy. Trials can be conducted in a fraction of the time required by water displacement systems. Comes with vital capacity charts and 50 disposable cardboard mouthpieces.

Extra large, unbreakable, clear plastic housing makes this functioning lung model the best available. The functioning lungs can be seen from the back of the room as you demonstrate the principle of differential air pressure. The use of rubber stoppers on the ends of the bronchus makes replacing worn out lungs much easier than traditional models using string or rubber bands. The handle on the durable, latex diaphragm allows for easier expansion of the balloon lungs during operation. A real must for your human anatomy unit.
