Insect Preserving Kit
Safely and humanely euthanize insects for preserva-
tion and collection. Kit includes 100 mL of ethyl
acetate—widely accepted as a safer, less toxic alternative to other traditionally used compounds. Also includes 9 oz jar with a layer of porous plaster. Porous plaster will absorb enough of the ethyl acetate for several uses between chargings.
Insect Spreading Board, Adjustable
The groove of this spreading board is adjustable from 0 to 21 mm wide to accommodate insects of all sizes. Mounting boards are durable, 5 cm wide basswood beveled at 165°. Pins are held securely by a 1.8 cm thick piece of high-density foam positioned under the groove. A hardboard floor prevents pins from being disturbed from below. Total length of spreading board is 35.6 cm (14").
Insect Spreading Board, Economy
Budget priced spreading board designed for students and beginning entomologists. The basswood mounting surfaces are beveled to a 165° angle for proper wing positioning. Mounting surfaces are 5 cm wide and permanently bonded to a double layer of 12-mm composition board, which serves as the bottom of the pinning groove. Total length of board is 30 cm; width of pinning groove is 6 mm.
Insect Pinning Block
Increase student success pinning small insects using predrilled pinning blocks. Pins stand straight and insects are held upright during the drying process. The three steps on the one-piece block allow for various sizes of insects to be pinned simultaneously.
Insect Pins
Spring steel pins with extremely fine, sharp points and nylon heads. Pins are coated with a very smooth, corrosion-resistant black enamel finish guaranteeing long life and an attractive appearance. Packages of 100 pins; length of all sizes is approximately 38 mm.
