The Reversible Orange
and Blue Reaction—
Chemical Demonstration Kit Astonishing, fascinating and amazing describe this easy-to-do demonstration. A warm, clear, blue solution starts to bubble, the temperature rises, and suddenly the solution becomes an opaque orange- gold color. You can repeat it several times by replenishing one of the reactants.
An eye-catching way to introduce redox reactions—especially if your school colors are blue and orange (or gold). Teacher Demonstration Notes included.

The Gold Rush—Turning Pennies into Silver and Gold—Chemical Demonstration Kit
Demonstrate to your students what the alchemists only dreamed about. Turn an ordinary copper penny into silver and then into gold. Students will watch as you place pennies into a chemical solution that turns the pennies silver. Then, over heat, the silver penny will change into “gold.” Teacher Demonstration Notes included.

Rapid Oxidation—
Chemical Demonstration Kit
This is one of the safer fire, brimstone and smoke reactions. When you add a small amount of glycerin to potassium permanganate, your students will witness the oxidation of glycerin by a permanga- nate. The reaction is very dramatic with lots of smoke and fire erupting from your evaporating dish. Spectacular, but safe! Teacher Demonstration Notes included. AP2087 | $20.00

Student Laboratory Kit
Student Laboratory Kit
Combine chemistry and art to design artistic creations! Ideal for days when your class needs a break, this laboratory kit reinforces redox concepts while students think they are just having fun! Students will start with
a simple piece of galvanized iron and trans- form it, using redox reactions, into their own work of art. Includes reproducible student instructions, teacher tips and all materials needed to perform the lab.
Photosensitive T-shirts are prepared by soaking white T-shirts in a solution containing two iron salts, ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When the shirts are dry, students place opaque objects on the shirts and expose them to direct sunlight. UV light causes a light-activated redox reaction to occur. Rinsing the T-shirt with water removes unreacted salts and reveals the blueprint. Includes student handouts, background information and Teacher Notes.
AP6879 | $79.60
Mimic the everyday process of electroplat- ing with this easy-to-perform lab. Pre- and post-lab activities help students relate the non-spontaneous process of electroplat- ing to the Law of Conservation of Matter, oxidation–reduction reactions, anode and cathode and Faraday’s Law. Reproducible student handout and Teacher Notes include answer keys, sample data and calculations. Complete for 30 students working in pairs. AP6132 | $60.60
