Understanding Your Carbon
Carbon Cycle Adventure—
Carbon Dioxide—What a Gas!
Footprint—Student Activity Kit
Super Value Activity Kit
Student Laboratory Kit
A carbon footprint is the amount of green- house gases, primarily carbon dioxide, released by energy-dependent activities
and processes. In this activity, students will analyze data from utility bills, modes of trans- portation and everyday activity contributions. The relative contributions of their activities will be graphed to explore ways to reduce emissions and their carbon footprint. AP7322 | $10.75
Students follow a carbon atom through the carbon cycle for insight into the ongoing process. The roll of a die at each “carbon cycle station” determines the next step: diffusing into water, being absorbed for photosynthesis or staying in place. Students learn about the mechanisms in carbon’s movement and then compare experiences and see that no two paths are alike! FB2206 | $19.95
Generate microscale quantities (50–60 mL) of carbon dioxide gas in syringes and observe the properties and reactions of the gas. Perform the classic limewater test for the detection of CO2, observe the acidic nature of the gas, watch the gas undergo a chemi- cal reaction and determine if carbon dioxide supports combustion of a candle flame. Students gain a hands-on understanding of the chemistry of carbon dioxide. Includes Teacher Notes, reproducible student handouts and all necessary chemicals and specialized materials.
AP5950 | $27.00
Carbon Dioxide
and Ocean Acidification Poster Bring real-world issues into the classroom with this colorful poster! Students will see the effects of excess carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and how it affects our oceans. Use the poster to initiate discussion about important issues
like climate change and its effects on our planet! Laminated, 24" x 36". AP9895 | $22.95
New poster addressing an
important issue.
