The Telegraph—Historical
Resistance Mystery—
Build a Shake Flashlight—
Inventions Laboratory Kit
Super Value Laboratory Kit
Demonstration Kit
Help your students recreate one of the first forms of “fast” telecommunication with the construction of a telegraph. Students will learn about electromagnets, circuits and Morse code and gain an appreciation for the speed at which we send and receive informa- tion today. Complete for 30 students working in groups of three.
AP8351 | $99.75
Use this guided-inquiry lab activity to investigate the essential function of resis- tors in modern electronics. In this two-part “mystery” analysis, students first decode the color bands on a series of nine unidentified resistors to predict their resistance values. They then test their predictions by placing the resistors in series and parallel circuit combinations and measure the current and voltage. Super Value Kit is complete for 15 student groups. All materials are reusable! AP7417 | $34.05
Engage your students by building a flashlight that doesn’t need batteries! Students see
a real-world application of Faraday’s law of magnetic induction and learn how to build
a circuit. Powerful neodymium magnets are shaken through 600 feet of coiled magnet wire, inducing an alternating current. Diodes convert the current from AC to DC, which is stored in a supercapacitor. Flip the switch, and the capacitor releases the stored energy in the form of light through an LED. AP7320 | $58.65
Introduction to Magnets—
Super Value Laboratory Kit
Students experiment with bar magnets to visibly see why magnets “stick” to certain objects but not others, test magnetic polarity and determine magnetic and non-magnetic materials and sprinkle iron filings over magnets to display their invisible magnetic fields, which visibly bend when magnetic poles repel and attract. Includes detailed laboratory instruc- tions and background information. Super Value Kit is complete for 8 student groups. AP6457 | $80.50
Magnets and Magnetism—Super Value Activity-Stations Kit
Explore the captivating world of magnetism with this all-in-one activity-stations kit. Stations include Properties of Magnets, Building an Electromagnet, Electromagnetic Induction and Build a DC Motor. Easy-to-set-up lab stations allow student groups
to work independently on a specific aspect of magnetism then move on to the next lab station. Detailed instructions and Teacher Notes are provided. Super Value Kit is complete for 16 student groups.
AP7013 | Super Value Acticity-Stations Kit | $148.90 AP1430 | Batteries, Transistor Battery (Alkaline), 9 V | $5.65
