Culturing Rotifers

The name “rotifer” was derived from latin language meaning “wheel-bearer.” This is because the area around the mouth that resembles a wheel. They exhibit bilateral symmetry as well as a variety of different shapes. Their body is typically cylindrical and has three regions—head, trunk and foot.
