The DNA Extraction Module allows students to extract chromosomal DNA from various prokaryotic and eukaryotic samples for various downstream applications including PCR amplification, DNA sequencing and barcoding, restriction endonuclease digestions, and cloning. The spin column-based procedure can be completed in as little as 15 minutes, and DNA may be eluted into either water or TE (Tris/EDTA) buffer. The module may be used as a stand-alone DNA extraction kit for student projects and research, including course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs), or as a component of Bio-Rad’s DNA barcoding kits.
