Erlenmeyer Flask Lawn Ornament

The rising popularity of lighted lawn ornaments during the Christmas season gave me an idea to create a chemistry-related decoration. An easily-constructed giant Erlenmeyer flask outline can be created from 3⁄4-inch PVC pipe. Once the PVC pipe has been cut to the desired lengths, the flask ornament can be quickly assembled. The flask remains vertical due to the addition of a “hidden” stand (part b in the figure) that can be painted black to mask its appearance. Strings of white or clear lights can be taped to the pipe.
