Get those hearts beating! Resting heart rate, maximum heart rate, target heart rate—what do all these numbers mean? How are these heart rates determined? In this completely reusable demonstration, three student volunteers perform fitness activities while three other volunteers use a stethoscope to measure heart rate at specific times. Discuss how activity affects heart rate. Make this a classroom activity with the purchase of additional stethoscopes.
