Students build a spectroscope using materials provided in the kit. They use this spectroscope to investigate visible light emitted by various light sources (e.g., the sun, LEDs, incandescent lightbulbs) and discover that white light is made up of an array of colors. They also find similarities and differences in the spectra of light produced by different sources.
