Demonstrate electricity storage using one of the original “batteries.” The perfect apparatus to introduce your students to capacitors and dielectric materials. Charge up the Leyden jar with a Van de Graaff generator, Wimshurst machine or electrophorus. The static-electric charge will last for hours. Use it later to charge up an electroscope.
